Why we built this

Most personal finance apps are glorified spreadsheets. They show you where your money went after the fact but don't help you make better decisions in the moment. We wanted something different — a tool that thinks alongside you, surfaces patterns you'd never notice yourself, and gives you actionable guidance without requiring a finance degree to understand it.

The AI CFO concept came from asking a simple question: what would a brilliant financial advisor who knew your entire financial picture tell you right now? That's the experience we're building. Not generic budgeting tips — personalised insights based on your actual transactions, goals, and trajectory.

We built SpendGuard with modern AI at its core from day one. Every feature — from the FIRE planner to the health score — is designed to give you clarity, not complexity. We obsess over making financial data feel approachable, because the best financial plan is the one you actually stick to.

The AI CFO concept

A traditional CFO does three things: tracks where money is going, models where it could go, and advises on the best path forward. SpendGuard's AI does exactly that — continuously, automatically, and without an hourly billing rate.

Our AI advisor analyses your spending patterns, compares them to your stated goals, and surfaces the three or four changes that would have the biggest impact on your financial health. It doesn't lecture you about lattes. It finds the real levers and tells you about those.

We use Claude by Anthropic to power our AI features — a model known for being thoughtful, accurate, and honest about what it doesn't know. When the AI isn't sure, it says so.
